How do you become a super Dad? You surprise your girls with the best riding holiday in the world when they think they are just heading to England to visit family..
It had been a long three-year wait through Covid for this lovely family to get back to Britain to visit grandparents from their home in Singapore. But Dad made sure this trip was unforgettable for his wife Rachael and three gorgeous daughters by booking them a ride with Liberty Trails and driving them to Bovey Castle where they stayed in a Lodge, riding with us for three fun-packed days.. We took a lot of trouble to ensure the three girls were big and experienced enough to ride the horses we use on Dartmoor — you have to be happy to ride for full, fast days on our trips. And as we had hoped, we found they were AWESOME! All ride regularly in a big equestrian centre in Singapore and rode BEAUTIFULLY, but the horses are very different there. They loved how settled and mannerly our horses were, and how much confidence they inspired – Dad, Rees, looked really sorry to be missing out and we’re rather hoping he might take some lessons and join the riding party next time (!) The girls never stopped laughing – we set up some magical Liberty Trails meals, starting early each morning because they visited us during a pretty hot spell. These included a glorious riverside breakfast and some beautiful picnic lunches in sublime spots at the end of each ride.
Since he wasn’t riding, Rees accepted the challenge of taking an E-bike and allowing the girls to pursue him each day on horseback — our own little race.. GREAT fun was had by all and we can’t wait to see this fabulous family again!
Their verdict? ‘You guys made our trip such a memorable, happy experience. We will treasure each and every moment we spent on Dartmoor. Thank you for making us all feel so welcome. We will most definitely be back again. Liberty Trails has been our favourite family experience so far.’
